An Afternoon At Flabob
A few weeks ago, I stopped by a small, local airport near my house to see what might be flying. That airport (called Flabob) is tiny, but you never know what you'll find. In addition to a smattering of Cessna 150s, there's also a gentleman who keeps a de Havilland Chipmunk, a small shop that has produced award-winning restorations, and a gentleman who is one of the world's gurus when it comes to DC-3 aircraft.
On this particular day, the first thing that I noticed was a C-47, Virginia Ann, being prepped for flight. Perfect timing! I set up at a good location and watched as the crew did their thing. Whatever that is. Soon, they were taxiing the ol' girl and after a brief engine run-up, they were up and away! I hung around afterward and photographed a few of the other small aircraft that frequently fly in and out of the airfield. It was a perfect morning.
