Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach

Just this past weekend, I attended my first Grand Prix of Long Beach. It's a shame that it took so long given that I've lived in southern California for 18 years and have lived just 75 minutes from Long Beach for the past 10 years now. As luck would have it, a friend of mine (who I met through social media) is a crew member on one of the IMSA teams and he invited me to ride along with them and observe them qualifying on Friday. It would be crazy to say no to that so I gladly accepted.
The pace of the day was mind-boggling and I struggled a bit to keep up. There are so many moving parts to a race team and I am unfamiliar with how and when all the pieces fit together. My first goal was to not interfere with the team and I am sure that I was successful at that. My friend also made sure that he positioned me where I needed to be and ensured that I wouldn't embarrass myself. I learned so much about racing that day and am seriously thinking about getting on with a local small race crew to occupy my weekends and increase my automotive knowledge. I also got some good pictures and will post some of my stronger pictures here. I will definitely be attending next year's Grand Prix in Long Beach and will try to get media credentials at a few other races in the months to come.
